Ford part suppliers opting to rent space in industrial park

They are awaiting the expansion of the Craiova Industrial Park by Government Ordinance. The Romanian government has already allocated €3 million for the expansion of utilities in this industrial park, to supplement a further €6 million provided by the PHARE fund.

The suppliers in question, including Bamesa, Johnson Controls, Kirchoff, Caucho and Gestamp Automocion, who were initially making life difficult for ARIS and the mayors of Craiova, Caracal, Filiasi, Bals, Calafat and Slatina with their demands for land, due to its short supply, have not acquired any in the area, either from local authorities or individuals.

The administrator of the Craiova Industrial Park, Marin Nicoli, believes that all of these suppliers are awaiting the signing of the Government Ordinance for the 10 hectare park, to supplement this by a further 86.34 hectares, presently belonging to the Agency for State Domains. Officials have indicated that the industrial park could be further expanded to the adjoining 3,000 hectares.

Nicoli added that Ford suppliers will be able to opt for much cheaper space in the park, at €0.2 per square meter, with an expressway and the airport very close by.
