Foreign direct investments up 27.5% in Q1 2008
In January-March 2007, FDI totaled €1.3 billion, covering 43 percent of the current account deficit.

In Q1 2008, capital participation and reinvested profit amounted to 57.2 percent of total FDI, while intra-group loans made up for the remaining 42.8 percent.

As for the country’s medium and long-term foreign debt, this rose 4.2 percent compared to the end of 2007, up to €39.95 bln. The increase was due to higher direct public debt and higher debt not guaranteed by the state, according to the central bank on Thursday.

At the end of last year, medium and long-term debt was worth €38.3 bln, according to the National Bank of Romania. (NewsIn)
