Former MTV team to launch Ginx TV in Romania
The station will broadcast 24 hours and be available by satellite and cable. Ginx TV’s main target group will be 8-35 year-old males. It will broadcast its own original programs, intended for occasional players, but also for “hardened” players.

According to the Ginx press release, all of the stations will be operated by the Pasadena Media Management company, whose team is presently located in Romania, and made up of the former management of the MTV Romania station, acquired recently by the MediaPro trust.

“Pasadena shareholders created one of the most successful MTV stations in Romania, and it is this that makes us believe that they will create an incredible station for Ginx,” said Udi Shapira, Joint Managing Director of Ginx.

However, representatives of Romania’s National Audiovisual Commission (CNA) indicated to Business Standard that it has not received any application for the launch of such a station on the Romanian market. They added that DTH Television Group, which operates the digital Boom TV, submitted an application at the beginning of last week to launch two interactive gaming stations, presently awaiting approval.

Ginx TV was established in 2006 with the support of British EMCP and Schneider Media Holdings. The company’s board is run by Peter Einstein, former President of MTV Europe and Showtime Arabia. Ginx is run by Udi Shapira, former Program Manager of Game one Israel and by Cosmo Spens, former Marketing Manager of Cobalt Media.

The video game industry will generate some $52 billion in sales in 2008.
