Former tennis player Ilie Nastase enters the luxury whisky market

De Silva Intermed company, controlled by former tennis player Ilie Nastase, has become the single distributor in Romania of luxury Glenmorangie whisky, owned by Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH), world leader in luxury products.

Nastase said the whisky will be distributed in all luxury clubs and hotels in Romania. The expected market share for this year is 7 percent. Along with Glenmorangie, Nastase also distributes other LVMH brands, such as Moet & Chandon, Krug, Veuve Clicqout, Dom Perinon and Hennessy.

The Romanian alcoholic drinks market was estimated to be worth over €400 million in 2007, of which €100 mln for imported drinks. The most important players on this segment are Pernod Ricard, Cristalex, BDG Import and Solliers.
