Forty percent of consultants are under 26
Of 3,000 job offers at a recent job fair for young professionals, about one quarter (500) came from audit and advisory companies, compared to 400 job offers in the IT sector and 350 jobs in engineering.

“Some 40 percent of PricewaterhouseCoopers employees are aged under 26. The age of senior management is some 40 years,” according to the Senior Manager of Human Capital PwC Romania, Alexandra Iorgulescu. The company, one of the “big four” worldwide, together with KPMG, Ernst&Young and Deloitte, annually recruits some 100 young graduates.

One of the few departments for which recent graduates are rarely recruited is business and management consulting. “The ability to analyze major data volumes, identify trends, and have an eye for essential data is a key prerequisite in this department. This ability develops over time,” Iorgulescu said.

“Given our company has a pyramidal structure, some 45 percent of our employees are 26 years of age or younger,” according to Ernst&Young Romania Marketing Coordinator, Elena Badea. At the senior management level, the average age is 38-39.
