Fourfold average net wage over inflation in 2007

In spite of this significant rise, statistics show that the October salary is lower than the average wage registered in December 2006, of RON 1,099. INS attributes this to the 13th salary and bonuses, usually granted to employees for the winter holidays.

INS further compares salary rises and inflation. In the first 10 months of 2007, the average net wage rose 18 percent, while inflation increased 4.81 percent, translating to a fourfold rise in salaries over inflation in the January-October period.
