"We are interested in Ukraine, because the supermarket network there is in full swing of development." Nicolae Bara, majority Frigotehnica shareholder, plans to dominate the Ukraine refrigeration market by 2008, ensuring that most supermarkets opening in the coming years on that market become clients.
"Companies such as Selgros or Metro are opening commercial centers in Ukraine for which we will execute refrigeration projects, including refrigerators or air conditioners, as a result of good cooperation between our companies in Romania," Bara told Business Standard exclusively. He estimated that net sales of the Ukraine branch will amount to €7-8 million in its first year.
Concerning the German market, expansion will rely almost exclusively on maintenance and service, because the supermarket network has been stable for several years now, and new projects are not so numerous as in Eastern countries, according to Bara. The German branch is forecast to register €1 million worth of net sales in 2008.
"Especially in Germany, our purpose is to demonstrate that the student can surpass his teacher, since Frigotehnica followed the model of the German Linde group, that initially offered us assistance," Bara said.
