The main engine for this increase was notebook sales, making up 60 percent of total turnover. “According to a preliminary classification in 2007 by the IDC global market intelligence company, FSC maintained its leading position in the notebook segment, with a 113 percent increase, and second place in terms of desktops, with a rise of 146.3 percent,” according to a statement for Business Standard by Ileana Stroe, PR and Marketing Manager of Fujitsu Siemens Computers.

The main distributors of FSC products on the Romanian market are Tornado Sistems, Scop Computers, Lasting System, Flamingo, and since January 2008 IT&S. “Developing a network of partners is very important to us because we plan to increase turnover by 50 percent in the 2008-2009 fiscal year,” said Dragos Nicolaescu, Country Manager of Fujitsu Siemens Computers Romania.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers claims a 10.3 percent market share on the notebook and desktop segments. The most important competitors are Dell, HP, Acer and Lenovo.

As concerns the notebook market evolution, importers are estimating that the total value in 2008 will be €300 mln, with a sales volume of 500,000 units, translating to 100 percent growth year-on-year.

IDC is estimating a 25 percent rise in PC sales in 2008, to 800,000 units.
