Gabi Szabo's enjoying 600-700% stock exchange yield

"I started investing on the Bucharest Stock Exchange in 2004. While I was initially a calm and careful player, because I wanted to know that the money I was invested was safe, now I am a more aggressive and confident player. There were times when I won three times what I invested in half a year, and sometimes I lost," Gabi Szabo told Business Standard.

The athlete added that prior to 2004 she invested for a short time on the New York Stock Exchange, where she lost, and then chose to invest on BVB. "I invested in Romania because there was an opportunity on the Romanian market. I knew that foreign investors, including large insurance companies, were investing on the Bucharest market, and I told myself that if they come and make investments here, I could do it too," the athlete explained.

She mentioned that she is both a portfolio and speculative investor. Recently, her favorite investments were the financial investment companies (SIF), but also in Rompetrol Rafinare Constanta and Mecanica Ceahlau shares. Gabi Szabo works with an HTI broker, Daniel Tepes, who usually makes the investment decisions, although he never fails to inform her in advance.

Retired from professional sports in May 2005, Gabi Szabo was an Olympic gold medal winner in 2000 Olympic, and won a silver and bronze medal at the Olympic Games in 1996 and 2000, respectively. She was a triple world champion. She is currently Vice President of the Romanian Athletics Federation.
