According to analysts, the value of companies dropped by up to 20 percent in 2008, due to the economic downturn. This year, however, the value of companies can be up to 50 percent lower compared to 2008, as the current period is favorable for investors who own liquidities to expand their businesses through acquisitions which can be considered easy targets.
The acquisition made by Marius Ghenea, one of the most active investors on the e-commerce market, intensifies competition on this segment, according to Vasile, who mentioned that the business of Fit Distribution (Ghenea’s company) on the Romanian IT&C e-commerce market can amount, through this takeover, to as much as 50 percent of eMAG’s business, the main player in this field.
“For next year, our goals in terms of net sales target €40 million. Clearly, from this point of view, the FIT-PC Garage transaction is the most important consolidation in the entire Romanian online retail and the second largest transaction with online companies in 2009, after the Asesoft-eMAG transaction,” Ghenea said.
