The company’s specialized division, Gamesa Energia, will develop the wind energy parks. Sources added that these are Greenfield projects, but the enterprise is not excluding future acquisitions from local developers. Gamesa officials could not be contacted for a statement.

Gamesa’s portfolio includes wind energy parks in countries such as the USA, Italy, Germany, Greece, and Portugal, and plans to expand to Eastern Europe, to countries such as Romania and Bulgaria, “which have a considerable medium and long-term wind energy potential.”

Globally, Gamesa Energia could be taken over by Iberdrola Renovables, the renewable energy production division of the Spanish Iberdrola group, present on the Romanian market, according to a notification filed with the European Commission on 30 October 2008.

At group level, Gamesa posted sales worth €2.62 billion in this year’s first nine months, up 34 percent year-on-year. The company’s operating profit surged 49 percent, to €350 mln.
