GED to invest in acquisitions for Diamedix

“Planned investments sustain organic growth and a series of acquisitions in the sector. Diamedix is the largest distributor in Romania of Siemens Diagnostic and is able to promote diagnostic equipment and reagents with high added value and excellent post-sales services, a key factor for many clients.  We believe that Diamedix is a very good base for acquiring and developing projects, both in Romania and in southeastern Europe - Bulgaria, Serbia and Macedonia,” according to a statement for Business Standard by Anca Ionescu, GED’s Country Manager. She added that over 50 percent of the value of the €12 million transaction represents a capital increase. Another company advantage, distributor of Siemens Diagnostic, is the fact that the German producer acquired Bayer and Dade Behring last year, which considerably extends the company’s product portfolio. This expanded portfolio will require investments to increase the current sales force.
 
“The attractiveness of the project also comes from the fact that the entrepreneur continues to have significant participation in the company, and the management is a professional team, capable of implementing a very ambitious development plan,” added Ionescu. Diamedix’s founder and General Manager Cherelias Vasileios will continue to run the business, maintaining his minority share.
 
Established in 1996 and owned by two Greek businessmen, Vasileios (70 percent), and Papadopoulos Nikolaos, with the remaining 30 percent, Diamedix is a provider of integrated solutions for laboratories, operating out of Bucharest and major cities, such as Cluj-Napoca, Brasov and Timişoara.
 
GED’s Romanian portfolio includes the Happy Tour travel agency, the Rosegur (former Dragon Star Guard) security and guard services, and the Fonomat store chain.
