According to the Head of Siemens IT Solutions and Services, Mihai Gherman, due to the decline in activity, the division cut the number of employees at its Bucharest headquarters by some 30 percent, to 110, especially in the infrastructure field and at support centers.
“We have a cost reduction program, through which we are trying to cut operating expenses, to better control daily expenditures. On the other hand, there has also been a reduction in personnel. I believe that about 50 people left our Bucharest center, of the 160. There have been no layoffs, but the activity contracted on certain segments,” Gherman told Business Standard.
Besides the focus on the public sector, a segment which is currently dominating the IT division of Siemens, the company plans to develop the banking, energy, and telecom segments. “The company’s strategy is to adapt to the market, and for the time being, the local market is still headed towards infrastructure, with a slight increase in the service and solution areas,” said Gherman.
