Ghetea: CEC wants a partnership with EBRD, which does not involve its becoming a shareholder
Ghetea confirmed that talks were held with EBRD “regarding its involvement for CEC to meet its strategic objectives.”

“I do not want this to be interpreted as EBRD becoming a CEC shareholder, or a repeat of the BCR story, when EBRD participated in BCR’s capital. We are talking about a partnership between CEC and EBRD which must correspond to the bank’s strategic objectives,” added Ghetea.

EBRD and the International Financial Corporation (IFC), financial division of the World Bank, became equal shareholders of Banca Comerciala Romana (BCR), each with 12.5 percent, prior to the sale of a majority share package of the Romanian state-owned bank to Austrian Erste Bank. (NewsIn)
