Green spaces to be protected by law

According to the new amendments to the emergency ordinance, any change made to the destination of green spaces will be considered a felony. The Ministry of Environment has indicated that the surface of green spaces has dropped 50 percent in the past 17 years.

State Secretary Lucian Varga said the purpose of these amendments is to end real estate speculations. “Many local authorities want to dismantle the botanical gardens to develop real estate projects,” Varga added.
