Greenpeace representatives said they identified in August some 60 hectares of genetically modified soy. Another 50 hectares parcel was identified as being cultivated with genetically modified corn.
No company name was mentioned and only the GPS coordinates of the crops were given, the coordinator of the Greenpeace campaign, Gabriel Paun said. The official said the protest will continue until the authorities take appropriate measures.
Environmental officials moved into the areas in order to verify the statements made by Greenpeace. Samples will be taken and in maximum six days the first results will be released, Environmental Guard chief commissioner Daniela Agache said.
