"My estimation is that the local market of IT&C products distribution will register 10-15 percent growth this year, lower than 2007, when the advance was 20 percent. The main reasons are more expensive loans and RON depreciation against the euro, which led to a decline in purchasing power," the CEO of distributor Proca, Sorin Stancu. Earlier this month, he said the IT distribution market was set to reach €1.1 billion this year.
The General Manager of Asesoft Distribution, Iulian Stanciu, also said the market will have a slower growth this year. "We estimate a 10 percent growth rate this year, half on the one registered in 2007," he said. However, Asesoft Distribution plans to increase its business by 30 percent this year, according to Stanciu.
However, the main player on the local IT&C distribution market, Tornado Sistems, foresees a higher growth rate for 2008, compared to the one last year. "The growth was very strong in 2007 and this cannot go on for ever. The market is undergoing a consolidation process, we are going to see several moves on the market, some companies will enter and others will exist [the market], the company's General Manager, Gerald Maier, said.
