At the end of 2005, GSP bought six mobile marine drilling units from Petrom oil company, worth $100 mln (€80.3 mln), with 85 percent of the acquisition covered by a loan from BCR and Anglo-Romanian Bank Ltd.

According to GSP Communication Manager Radu Petrescu, the company will modernize infrastructure in offices and warehouses it owns in the Port of Constanta. “We will use part of the loan to build a DP 3-type multifunctional ship, which will mount submarine conduits, provide drilling assistance, and perform submarine operations,” said Petrescu.

GSP competes with Petrom on the marine drilling segment. The company was established four years ago and has invested over €70 million.
