Half of EU job applicants come from multinationals
Some 1,000 have applied for study programs allowing them to be employed in an European Union institution, according to the Euroconcurs website, dedicated to EU institution job applicants. Currently, only a few dozens Romanians work for such institutions and many others are on waiting lists.

“Generally speaking, those interested are, on the one hand, Romanian civil servants, with only a small percentage with money for the necessary training, and most employees of multinationals and banks, who already have good jobs and want something better,” according to Euroconcurs PR Manager, Alex Laibar.

The average age of Romanian specialists interested in working in the EU administration is 30, although applicants include recent graduates and people in their 50s.

“Salaries are at least three times higher than Romanian economy wages, regardless of the position,” according to Laibar. A permanent job in an EU institution can only be secured following a test for skills and knowledge about the EU. All selection stages last an average nine months, while training for the job competition can take anywhere from six months to several years, Laibar added.
