“There will be at least seven stores in Bucharest, but this all depends on the market development. We will cover some cities with two or even three stores. We will expand to the country’s main cities, such as Constanta, Brasov, and Timisoara. We just launched a store in Oradea,” Hervis Sports Romania General Manager, Catalin Pozdarie, told Business Standard.
The company targets cities with development potential and that can yield sufficient turnover. “To reach 50 stores, we do not have enough cities with 300,000 inhabitants, so we will also focus on secondary cities,” Pozdarie added.
The Hervis chain is currently operating 71 stores in Austria, as well as in Slovenia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Croatia. The first stores in Romania were opened last year in the cities of Targu Mures, Cluj-Napoca and Sibiu. In Bucharest, the first store is to be launched later this month in the Liberty Center shopping area.
The investment in Hervis stores in Romania amounts to €1 million. A further €4-5 million are required to acquire the merchandise. The four stores operating in Romania have so far generated €8 million in turnover. Pozdarie expects a 30 percent increase in sales due to the winter holidays.
