Trucks that weigh more than 7.5 tons will not be allowed to travel on national roads between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m in the counties of Arad, Timiş, Hunedoara, Caraş – Severin, Bihor, Sălaj, Mehedinţi, Dolj, Gorj, Vâlcea, Olt, Teleorman, Argeş, Dâmboviţa, Prahova, Giurgiu, Buzău, Călăraşi, Brăila, Ialomiţa, Ilfov, Vrancea, Galaţi, Bacău and Vaslui. The measure was required to protect the paved road sections.
During the period of high temperatures, trains will reduce speeds by 20-30 kilometers per hour, which will result in delays but ensure passenger safety. All restrictions will be canceled when temperatures return to normal.
Romania’s Meteorological Administration (ANM) warned on Monday of ferocious heat at the end of the week in nine counties in South and South-West of the country, with temperatures rising up to 40 Celsius. During July 17-22, weather will be extremely hot throughout the country.
