Suppliers are reluctant to raise prices as they fear losing clients and market share. This week, prices of electricity traded on the local energy bourse hit one record after another. The year-on-year price hike amounts to 15 percent.
“For those who do not have cheap energy in their portfolio, the profit margin is close to zero. Profits of traders and suppliers declined so much that they are working to cover for costs,” Lungu said.
