Higher oil prices triple Expur’s profit to €7.2 mln in 2007
The entire oil market enjoyed profit in 2007 due to the rise in oil prices brought about by last year’s drought. The upward trend comes after 2006, a very poor year, due to a drop in exports and lower internal prices, against a depreciation of the leu to the euro. In 2006, Expur posted turnover worth €63.8 mln.

Expur, a company controlled by the Quispel Investments Bv Rotterdam investment vehicle, owns a soy bean processing factory in Urziceni, and another unit for sunflower and rapeseed in Slobozia, both near Bucharest.

The oil market is estimated at some 250,000 tons annualy, with a value exceeding €200 mln. Main competitors are Bunge, Argus Constanta, Cargill Romania, Ultex Tandarei and Ulerom Vaslui.
