“This evolution was registered considering that car insurance premiums, products which traditionally dominate the structure of the local market, posted a 7.31 percent increase, that came from a rise by 1.03 percent in premiums for Casco insurances and by 17.55 percent in RCA tariffs,” CSA’s President, Angela Toncescu, said.
At the end of last year, gross subscribed premiums from auto insurances had a share of over 76 percent of the total market. According to figures presented by CSA, damages paid by insurers totaled RON 2.94 bln (more than €695 million), up almost 48 percent compared to the first six months of 2008.
According to CSA data, subscriptions on the general insurance segment increased 7.58 percent compared to H1 2008, to over RON 3.8 bln (€898.5 mln), while the life insurance segment registered a 2.97 percent drop, to RON 813 mln (€192.2 mln).
