“The evolution of the leu differed from that of other regional currencies. We witnessed significant depreciation of the leu, in parallel with a drop in the stock exchange,” said Florin Constantinescu, Carpatica Commercial Bank dealer.
The exchange rate posted by the National Bank of Romania (BNR) yesterday was RON 3.6333/€1. This is the first time since 26 June 2006 that the rate reached a similar level, of RON 3.6382/€1.
The euro was quoted yesterday at $1.4704, while BNR registered an exchange rate for the dollar of RON 2.4430.
