Holcim Romania sees 24 percent increase in revenues in the first nine months

Romania was the second European country where Holcim saw revenues rise, after Bulgaria, with 26.9 percent hike in the first nine months.

Cement average prices rose the most in Russia (58.7 percent) and Azerbaijan (37.1 percent), followed by Hungary (10.9 percent) and Romania (10.2 percent). Croatia and Italy were the only countries where cement prices decreased in this year's first nine months.

Holcim profit worldwide rose 20.7 percent to 2.4 billion euros this year, while net sales reached 12.18 billion euros, increasing 15.8 percent. Group's cement sales rose 8.7 percent, to 112.8 million tons.

Group's gross profit stood at 207 million lei last year, up 41 percent against the year before. Holcim estimates 20-25 percent hike in revenues this year versus the previous year and has in sight the increase of its production capacity following higher demand.

Holcim Romania currently operates three plants for cement, 16 ecological units for concrete and four units for aggregates and has around 1,300 employees.

The company spent around 57 million euros last year on modernizing production technology, environmental protection, developing business as well as several social and human resources projects.

The country’s main competitor is Lafarge, the world’s largest cement producer. Holcim is present in more than 70 countries, with a headcount of 90,000.
