Holsten sales doubled this summer at the seaside, compared to summer 2007. The Romanian beer market exceeded €1 billion last year. Main companies are Heineken, Ursus Breweries, InBev, URBB and European Foods.
Holsten’s main competitors on the premium segment are URBB’s Ursus, Inbev’s Beck’s, and Heineken Romania’s Ciuc Premium. URBB officials said that the brand claims notoriety in excess of 80 percent since it was launched on the market in May 2005.
URBB, a branch of the Danish Carlsberg Breweries group, plans to increase its market share by 12 percent in volume in the coming two-three years, compared to its current 9 percent, due to the doubling of production capacity in the factory near Bucharest.
