“It was surprising for us to realize that a lack of strategy is the number one problem in Romanian companies. The problem surpasses even the staff deficit, against a backdrop of a worrying lack of qualified personnel,” said Weber.
According to Weber, another significant problem for Romanian managers is mentality. Romanians must overcome the hurdle of taking on tasks that can be more easily resolved in all respects, namely time, cost or quality, by a specialized person in the respective sector. Another issue that Romanian managers must resolve is the lack of instruments and internal management processes, all tools to with which to develop a strategy.
“The need for a clear strategy becomes a virtual must, because the local market, on the whole, is maturing and becoming more complex, so a business needs planning, and a direction to the market,” Weber says. He added that a manager cannot develop a strategy on his own, without outside expert help, due to insufficient experience or lack of know-how.
Implementing a top management strategy requires some 30-50 days of advice at an advice strategy project cost of €200 a day. For large companies, a project can even cost €2,000 a day.
