The number of tourists could reach 1.4 million. The Rex hotel in the Mamaia resort expects an occupancy rate of some 88 percent in August, 10 percent more year-on-year. The hotel’s General Manager said that the hotel will be fully booked at the end of August, when a boat grand prix will take place in Mamaia.
Some 60 percent of tourists this summer to the Rex hotel were Romanians and the hotel’s management expects an increase of some 200 percent in turnover this year and 300 percent in 2009. The hotel is open all year and has an occupancy rate of 30-40 percent off season.
The Best Western Savoy had an occupancy rate of some 99 percent this weekend, while mid-week occupancy was some 60-70 percent.
