“For the end of May and the month of June, with a budget of €500, one can spend a seven-night holiday in the Sahara or in the Tunisian capital, Tunis, in a three or four-star hotel,” said Mirela Rogojinaru, Sales Manager of Tunisiana Travel.
Charter flights are most popular for air travel when tourists opt for foreign destinations. At the CMB Travel agency, the months which mark the beginning of the summer season mean many requests for foreign seaside destinations. “Referring to seaside locations and charter packages to seaside destinations – the products, which actually are most sought-after in this period – with a €500 budget one can go to Bulgaria, Greece, Croatia, Italy, and by charter flight to Turkey, Mallorca, Barcelona, or Crete,” said the agency’s General Manager, Cristian Balcescu.
The value of the local tourism market was estimated at €800 million in 2008, up 25% percent year-on-year. For this year, due to the economic crisis, market analysts forecast a growth rate of only 10 percent.
