“According to our studies, there have been more changes in the past ten years than in the last ninety years in the past century. This is one of the reasons for which companies must adapt their business model to the current requirements,” Andreas Dax, Sales Leader Websphere IBM, said.
Meanwhile, companies spend most of their IT budgets on maintenance and energy consumption, which limits the flexibility in terms of new investments, meant to develop the business, IBM specialists say.
Studies indicate the need for a radical change in the business processes of companies, and developing a flexible infrastructure is the foundation of a services oriented architecture (SOA). Thus, implementing such a platform contributes to a better connection of various applications and facilitates the exchange of information between them.
In Romania, all large business software developers – IBM, Oracle, SAP, Microsoft, and HP – offer the services oriented architecture, but, according to analysts, we cannot talk about a market yet. Locally, the SOA concept is still in its early days and is it usually found in international companies.
However, the economic recession can be an important factor in deciding whether or not to adopt such a business model, considering its can be an effective element in the company’s differentiation strategy and can help overcome this economic downturn, specialists added.
