“I believe that the crisis is somewhat artificial in the banking sector. If we consider this and the fact that the first funds [from the loan Romania obtained from the International Monetary Fund] will determine the National Bank of Romania [BNR] to release funds from the cash reserves that commercial banks are compelled to make for loans, lenders will obviously have higher liquidity for both lending and development investments,” he said.
As far as the telecom sector is concerned, the drop reached its lowest point in terms of expenses, and the decline can only be followed by an increase in spending in the second quarter.
Tudor stressed that the coming months are crucial for authorities and for the way in which they can stabilize the economy. “It is necessary to have infrastructure projects in all fields, an injection of liquidity on the market is necessary to lead to lower interest rates for deposits and, later, to support lending. It is also very important that small and medium-sized enterprises benefit from fiscal facilities,” he added.
