Schantin added the Romanian media industry is developing too fast,
not allowing the development of a mature structure. “Everything is in a pioneering stage, the market has a chaotic evolution, there is a lot of improvisation going on. As a very dynamic industry, you have the advantage to experiment quite a lot, learning from other markets’ mistakes.”
To be efficient and deliver quality products, Romanian newsrooms should reorganize daily activities, to clearly establish the information flow and the people responsible for each activity. To increase the quality of products, media companies can integrate the newsrooms. According to Schantin, online products should have the same quality as the printed ones, without redundancy. “There is no reason why a company cannot use the same journalist to write on several channels, a company cannot afford to produce the same material twice,” said Schantin.
Integration is an option for publishers that want to survive on a long term, given newspapers circulation is continually decreasing.
