Indesit , the local branch of international household appliance producer Indesit Company, forecasts an 18-20 percent increase in 2007 sales, to €65 million, from the €54 million in sales posted last year.

Indesit has two product brands, Indesit and Ariston, the former its bestseller in , with €43 million in sales in 2006 and estimates exceeding €50 million this year. Last year, the company sold Ariston products worth €11 million, and forecasts sales for 2007 of €13 million.

The Romanian white goods (refrigerators, stoves and washing machines) market totaled some €200 million last year, with more than 1.2 million units sold. The market is to increase 8-10 percent in 2007, according to Indesit officials.

Indesit is currently market leader in terms of sales, with a 27.7 percent share, according to a study carried out by research company GfK at the beginning of 2007. Arctic ranks second, with a 25.2 percent market share, while Electrolux ranks third, with 18.6 percent, according to the GfK study. However, as concerns a top of units sold, Indesit ranks second, with a 24.6 percent market share.Indesit sells its products through retailers such as Altex, Flamingo and Domo, and these make up some 60 percent of total Indesit sales. Hypermarkets sales count for 22-25 percent, while the remainder of its products are sold through independent stores.
