ING: The national currency will reach four lei for one euro in the first months of the year

ING analysts believe that prices will increase this year also by 5.4 percent. BNR could revise its inflation target as early as February. ING analysts place the inflation rate in 2009 at 4.3 percent, and predict desired macroeconomic adjustments.

It is possible that BNR will raise monetary policy interest to 9 percent in the next quarter. CitiGroup analysts believe that key interest should be raised to over 9 percent annually, and expect a first interest raise of 0.5 percent in February.

The economy’s engine will continue to be fuelled by domestic demand. GDP will rise by 6.6 percent in 2008 and 5.1 percent in 2009.
