Rombat is the only battery supplier for the Dacia Logan model produced by Romania’s largest carmaker, Automobile Dacia, and regional supplier for French Renault group, which controls Dacia.
Last year, Rombat applied an investment project worth €6.5 million, which led to a 50 percent rise in the company’s production capacity. Following the investment program, the number of employees also rose by 10 percent, up to 664 workers.
The company’s earnings in the first six months amounted to €3.6 million, 142.2 percent higher than in H1 2007.
Company officials estimate €90 million worth of business by 2010. “Five years ago, we decided to raise Rombat to European standards. We managed to register constant growth in business, up to 271 percent in the past five years,” the company’s General Manager, Ioan Repede, said.
