Investments in new thermal plants are threatened by Termoelectrica’s debt

“Termoelectrica assets cannot be sold or rented. The company is negotiating with the authorities, but they have not yet found a solution,” said Martin Fischer, Project Manager of E.ON Kraftwerke. E.ON and Enel recently signed a memorandum with Termoelectrica for the construction of a new 800 MW facility in Braila. The investment is estimated to be worth €1 billion.

Ioan Ungureanu, Termoelectrica’s General Manager, told Business Standard that one of the solutions could be reorganizing payments over a 10-20-year period, and to start making these once the new facilities, surely profitable, are finished.
