Intel Capital is the investment division of the world’s largest producer of processors, Intel.
“We are looking for companies that develop their own software products, that have intellectual property, and for system integrators,” he said.
The company is scouring the region for companies to invest at least €1 million, according to Lupu. “I would rather invest €10-15 million in one company, rather than one million, but there are very few companies that can absorb such an investment,” he added.
Lupu said that IT entrepreneurs are over-valuating their companies, on the one hand, and on the other, wanting to sell their entire company, to exit the business. Intel Capital’s target is not to take over companies but to help them with technology transfer and international contacts, he added.
“Intel Capital is operating as a financial investor, but without financial constraints. We are not compelled to exit in a maximum number of years,” said Lupu.
