JP Morgan: Romania’s banking system has good development perspectives

JP Morgan specialists believe that Romania still has great potential for growth in terms of banking.  Even though the investment bank’s report raises the issue of hikes in the exchange rate and interest rates, which could lead to an increase in the non-performing loan ratio, it shows that the level of penetration of banks in Romania is still low, compared to other European Union states, albeit comparable to other emerging countries.

JP Morgan analysts estimate that this year’s loan gross domestic product (GDP) ratio will reach 45 percent, and deposits 33 percent.  Calculations are based on data from the National Bank of Romania (BNR) and the National Institute for Statistics (INS). (The Money Channel)
