Kolbenschmidt Pierburg invests EUR 100m to start producing engine blocks in Romania

The German based company will sign in the following days a 50 years concession contract for 15 hectares of land, people close to the situation said. The production of block engines should start in the first half of 2008, after a factory will be erected in Dej Industrial Park.

Some 100 jobs will be created at the beginning, according to the same people. The Pierburg group was established in 1909, having as core activity the production of steel.

In 1928 it started producing auto components. Rheinmetall Group took over Pierburg in 1986 and two years later it merged it Kolbenschmidt. Dej Industrial Park offers for concession some 40.18 hectares of land.
