“Our brands will continue to be present on the Romanian market and the quality of products will remain the same. Kraft Foods Romania plans to operate on the Romanian market and to develop its business,” Doina Cavache, the company’s Corporate Affairs Manager, told Business Standard.
Company representatives said that the Brasov factory was closed largely due to lack of space rather than to the effects of the financial crisis, considering this market is registering an upward trend.
The value of the Romanian sweet market amounted to €241 million in 2007, up 25 percent year-on-year, according to data provided by the Nielsen market research company. Major players on the local chocolate market include Cadbury, Kraft Foods Romania, Heidi Chocolats Suisse, and Supreme Chocolat.
