Lactalis gives green light to continuing LaDorna’s association with U.S. Wal-Mart

“The head of Lactalis was delighted with the idea of exporting organic sheep cheese to the US, and I am very proud of this, because it was my idea,” said Valvis for Business Standard.

The President of LaDorna also confirmed the sale of the company to the Lactalis group, announced yesterday by Business Standard. Valvis declined to comment on the value of the transaction, although sources estimate this to be less than €100 million.

Valvis added that he will carry on as Chairman of the Board of LaDorna for six months, which is the transition period agreed upon by the two companies.

LaDorna has 1,200 employees in Romania on eight industrial production platforms, and posted turnover in 2007 of some €40 mln.
