“We intend to increase our business by at least 60 percent from its 2006 level. We had initially estimated 50 percent, but the results registered in the first two quarters indicate a higher growth rate,” said the Country Manager of Dell Romania, Dragos Mateescu.
PC sales, including personal office computers, portable computers and servers, surged by 87.8 percent to 27,800 units in the first half of 2007 from H1 2006, according to Mateescu.
“The most significant growth, of 144.6 percent, was registered on the notebook segment, up to 17,710 units,” said Mateescu, quoting data supplied by the International Data Corporation (IDC) market research company. The same study indicates that Dell had a market share of 13.6 percent in terms of value and an 8.2 percent market share in terms of sold units in the second quarter of 2007.
Dell’s strategy focuses on the small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) segment as well as the corporate sector, without neglecting the retail segment.
