Lenovo Romania’s sales up 40% in 2007

“There was a rise in spite of a lack of a significant presence on the individual consumer market, the latter a segment that has been known to lead the way. It is important to stress the rising ratio of notebooks in terms of terms sales. In spring 200, Lenovo established an international division dedicated to individual users, and products are due to be available in Romania at the end of 2008 or the beginning of next year,” according to a statement for Business Standard by Aurel Netin, Country General Manager for Lenovo Romania.

Lenovo Romania officials are expecting a slow in turnover this year due to a drop of IT market growth, increased competition, and the fact that 2008 is an electoral year which investments in IT will not be as high,” added Netin.

The representative of the Chinese producer presently has 13 partnerships with Romanian companies, which Netin indicated will remain sufficient in 2008, namely MB Distribution, Tornado Sistems, Flamingo, Trend, and Agis for distribution, and corporate resellers Omnilogic, Eta2U, MBL, Sysco, S&T, Net Consulting Sysware and Forte. Its top three distributors are MB Distribution, with 40 percent of sales, Tornado Sistems, with 20 percent, and Flamingo, with 15 percent.

The company’s main competitors are Fujitsu Siemens Computer, Dell, Hewlett Packard, Acer and Asus.

According to official statistics, the Romanian PC market registered year-on-year growth of some 50 percent in terms of number of units sold in the last quarter of 2007, while the sale of notebooks soared by 92 percent in that same period, compared to Q4 2006.
