The official indicated that the smartphone sector presently makes up about 15-20 percent of the total market, whose value in 2009 is estimated at €240 million. “The mobile phone market fell 5-10 percent this year compared to 2008, but for 2010 I expect a slight increase on this segment, of some 5-10 percent,” said the President of LG Electronics Romania.

The LCD television sector dropped 31 percent since the beginning of this year, but the local market will amount to $200 mln by year-end, according to LG Romania estimates.

The company is hoping for net sales worth some $120-130 mln for 2009, down 14-21 percent year-on-year, when revenues amounted to $152 mln.

Although the retail market declined by approximately 50 percent year-to-date, LG continues to focus on this sector, which generates about 80 percent of the sales of the local subsidiary of the Korean company in the consumer electronics segment.
