Linklaters boss moves to a private equity fund

Cosminos came to Romania 10 years ago, the second foreign lawyer in Romania with Burns Schwartz law firm. In 2001 he joined the then new company on the market, Linklaters, as Senior Associate, Partner, and as of this year, Managing Partner. 

"Through Ted's departure, Ro¬mania loses one of the best foreign lawyers, who constantly contributed to the training of young Romanian lawyers in order to bring their practice to international standards. I value him as a former colleague and an honest competitor," NNDKP Partner, Francisc Peli, told Business Standard. The Linklaters Romanian subsidiary has been a starting point for many important law firms on the domestic market.  

The first to leave the company was Daniel Badea, who together with Dragos Radu established a law firm in 2002. In 2005, Dragos Radu and three other lawyers at Linklaters, set up a new company - Radu Taracila Padurari Retevo¬escu (RTPR). Daniel Badea went on to establish Ba¬dea, Georgescu & Associates in 2006, which was taken over by the world's largest law firm, Clifford Chance.

Linklaters and Clifford Chance are members of the "Magic Circle", a group made up of the most important London law firms, such as Allen&Overy, Freshfields Brukhaus Deringer, and Slaughter&May.
