The store will be open within the five-star JW Marriott hotel complex in Bucharest. The agreement for the rental of space in the central area of the hotel's shopping gallery has already been signed. The store is to open this fall, sources said.
This is the first time a luxury brand is coming directly to the Romanian market, instead of through an intermediary.
LVMH is also operating the Sephora Beauty Shop chain in Romania, but these are franchises through the Greek Sephora Marinopoulos company.
Other luxury industry franchises in Bucharest are Versace and Escada shops. Products of other famous designers, such as Dolce&Gabbana and Giorgio Armani, are available in several luxury stores in Bucharest, but the fashion companies do not yet have their own shops in Romania. JW Marriott's shopping gallery hosts several luxury stores. The hotel made some €6 million in 2005 from its shopping area, office space and casino. The hotel, the largest in Bucharest, posted net sales worth €38.5 million in 2006.
