The company’s expenses advanced 7.6 percent, to RON 425.6 mln (€115.3 mln). Alro targets net profit of $150.53 mln (€97.6 mln) in 2008, and turnover of $861 mln (€558 mln).
Alro Slatina budgeted $63.7 mln (€41 mln) for investments this year. From 2002 to 2007, its investments in technology and the environment exceeded $210 mln (€136 mln).
Company officials indicated that investments will focus on factories in China. According to Vice President Marian Nastase, Alro was attracted by lower energy prices in China.
Vimetco, the company’s main shareholder, plans to focus Alro production on processed products, whose value can be as high as double those of gross aluminum quotations on international markets.
