Clients who were affected by this measure registered consumption in excess of 150,000 liters per month. “We have a total of over 6,000 clients with cards, and those of 10-15 percent of them have been blocked. When these are financially stable again, we will unblock them. Our policy is to be more cautious in terms of lending,” Chirilescu added.
The corporate card segment usually makes up some 40-45 percent of the company’s sales, but this ratio recently dropped to 35 percent. Sales on this segment fell some 20 percent in January and 15 percent in February, but the drop was less abrupt in March and April, of 5-7 percent.
LukOil Romania expects a 5-6 percent decline in fuel sales for the whole of 2009. The company’s network presently includes 3,000 gas stations.
