Madison: exclusivist perfumes worth €300,000 in 2008

“We have revised the ‘figures’ upwards following the first three months of business. Factors that will contribute to these figures are unique, exclusive and exclusivist products, a varied portfolio that will satisfy persons most impassioned of perfumes as well as novices, and not least, the type of ‘customer service’, a recipe I know from America,” according to a declaration for Business Standard by Madeleine Florescu, General Manager of Madison Rand Promotions, company which operates the Madison store.

“We are targeting the northern area, especially because this will be logistically more comfortable for our clients in Baneasa and Pipera. I also want a larger location, to be able to increase the portfolio,” added Madeleine Florescu.

According to the Madison representative, the company is not excluding expansion outside the capital. “I am currently monitoring the clientele and will identify if there is interest and demand in other areas. I would like to have a Madison store in Constanta or Cluj. But I do not yet know if there is a solid client base there as well,” according to the company’s General Manager.

Brands to be imported include Clive Christian, Annick Goutal, Creed, Ineke San Francisco, Claus Porto, Eau d’Italie, Comme des Garcons, Carthusia, Boellis-Panama 1924, Miller Harris, Tann Rokka, Nasomatto, Costume National, Etat Libre d’Orange, as well as brands already present on the market, such as Chanel, Hermes, Givenchy, Dior, Thierry Mugler and Lolita Lempicka. At the local level, the only other luxury perfume is Guerlain, sold through the Sephora chain of stores.

Madeleine Florescu indicated that she would increase the collection twice a year, in May and October.

Perfumes are imported mainly from the United States and the European Union, with prices starting at €50 for a 30 ml bottle, up to hundreds and even thousands of euros, depending on brand and scent.

“I have already sold four bottles of perfume for over €2,000. A waiting list has been initiated and there are two persons waiting for this year’s No. 1 by Clive Christian. The stock has been exhausted, because it is limited each year to 1,000 bottles,” added Madeleine Florescu.
